Watching Games at No Boyz Allowed....
10/9/16 - 08:45 PM

                                  "No Boyz Allowed"

Tuesday 6:30 Franklin vs The Patrick School

                           7:30 Rutgers Prep vs Rumson

            Thursday 6:30 Championship Game

                           7:30 Allstar Game

Miller Center 163 First Street Elizabeth NJ, 07206

No Boyz Allowed has taken on its own reputation as being unpredictable but fun to watch.. The amount of talent that comes through the Miller Center 3 times a week is insane..The other night was very special.

You seen a trio of Mo Campbell('17Pf-Tough,Rebounds,Finishes,Hi BBall IQ), Camille Gray('18Sf- Athletic, makes right play, excellent anticipation, strong finisher) and Diamond Miller take a young Franklin team, (by the way Diamond put on an MVP like peformance w/29pts and 7rbs) vs an excellent and scary Gil St Bernard Team who is star studded w/ guards Nisani Santiago(Pg/Sg) and Syd Caldwell(Sf/Sg). These 3 2019's(Diamond, Caldwell, Santiago) are finalist for N.B A. MVP for 2016. They have the potential to be high level talented players who already have non-stop motors and can excel at the Division 1 Level..Where they play will definitely depend on them.

Then i thought about it, their was other special nights too. Like when Lynette Tait(Manhattan'21Sg/Pg) who guest played along side Q Hoppie(St Johns'21) for TPS and put on a show out there vs another MVP Finalist Hanna Scanlan(Bryant'21Sf) and one my most watchable players Tori Hyduke. TPS/Loughlin scored a big win over Rumson who at that time, Sept 1, was the best team in the league. But like Coach Luck said when asked about Rumson, "you cant say Rumson w/o  "IceWater" Michaela McGarvey(Rum'18Sg-who is as clutch as you can get and has range for days, tough an heady)

Or when Roselle Catholic led by 2 excellent shooters Tyara Mcqueen Victoria Jacobs, both '18s vs Curtis, introducing NJ to Julia Fabozzi(Xavarian'20Sg/Pg-who if she continues to get better, you'll see this kid playing major d1 basketball somewhere of her choice)gave us our first overtime game with a layup at the buzzer..Rayshel Brown(Lasalle'21-who is as strong as any scorer as they come, relentless) kept Curtis in it all the way to the end, but a Taniya Hanner steal(RC'18Pf-who also has the best motor i have seen on a kid in a long time)sealed the deal for RC.

Tuesday night sets up scenarios like: Is Diamond Girl'z depth going to wear down The Callahan'z, or will Scanlan put on an MVP performance like she is capable of and will "IceWater" hit big shots from deep late in the game. Will the Warriors led by Camille, Mo, and Diamond, be enough to beat Q, Powell, and Zaria. Both teams looking for their first N.BA.  Again the talent level and excitement for a Tuesday/Thursday, 6:30-8:30, is worth making the trek to the Miller Center. The concession stand has all you need, including onions... Follow on twitter and face book for all updates and all things "NoBoyzAllowed"

The Larry Brown of Girls Travel Ball!!!!!
9/4/16 - 03:05 PM

Like the high number of transfers in girls college basketball, as well as the number of coaches who switch universities yearly, its almost the same as girls travel basketball.. Coaches and kids move around for a ton of reasons, some good some bad depending on whos commenting.. Coach Luck is one of those people.. in the last 8years he has been with 4 of the major AAU programs in NY with each stop bringing stellar results.. Westchester Hoopers(Saniya Chong-Uconn Maia Hood-Lafayette), Exodus (Destini Feagan-FIU, Monasia Bolduc-Temple), New Heights(11Division 1 players in 1 year including an McDonalds All American and Ivy League athlete Kiah Gillespie Maryland-McDonalds All American,Tamara Simpson Yale), and Castle Athletics (Zakiya Beckels-Illinois State and Liz Garcia Hartford University) Now he is off for another venture this time with a bit of a twist..

He will be coaching with the Legendary Coach Hammer from Childrens Aid Society which the top team will be sponsored by NEB Basketball hence the name CAS Panthers/NY Flight. This venture will try to produce the same success that he has produce with numerous organizations.. The goal is to bring another opportunity to the Tri-State Area and continue to get scholarships for young ladies that want to play basketball at the next level..

CAS Panthers has a history of having and finding high level playes such as Shannon Bobbitt, Eppiphany Prince, Bria Hartley, Tina Charles, and more.. Coach Hammer is a legend among AAU girls basketball and has helped many students acheive their dreams over the pass 30 years...

PLAYOFFS LOOMING!!!!
1/28/16 - 07:33 PM

With the season winding down the Lady Blazers are headed down the stretch looking better and more optimistic about their PSAL title chances.. Although young they do not lack for confidence.. In their last game vs Brooklyn Collegiate(a program rebuilding from the ground up, but has a lot of fight in them) the Lady Blazers combined to shoot 60% from three point range in the first half.. They connected on 16 three point attempts to the tune of 58 points in the first half.. Yess they shot all three point shots until the middle of the 3rd quarter.. It was an experiment that paid off but every game is different.. The next 3 games are vs scrappy and championship contending teams.. Medgar Evers, Manhattan Center, and ending the regular season at Francis Lewis 2014 PSAL Champs..

This season so far has been a rollercoaster ride for the Lady Blazers but this is shaping up to be a very special group for years to come.. Playoffs brings out the beast in the best, let's see what happens with the NEW LADY BLAZERS!!!

The future appears to bright with a number of talented underclassman returning this upcoming summer. Several of these young ladies are gaining attention from college coaches already. According to Simpson, “Our 2018 prospects are being recruited by some of the best programs in the nation. Schools like Seton Hall, Georgia Tech,Texas Tech and several others have all been in contact with these kids.”

Season Highlights

Real DealAlthough from New York, Simpson knew where the epicenter of summer recruiting resides in the first half of July. His group of kids competed at the PSB Real Deal and received valuable exposure. Simpson says, “We played a memorable game versus the WPA Bruins at the Real Deal in the ‘Ville. It was after that game that we knew that we will be absolutely ready for next year.”

With the talented group of 2017 and 2018 prospects on the roster, expect to hear more of Castle/YuNG & tha Restless in this year’s open periods.

GROWING PAINS!!!!
12/15/15 - 06:23 PM

With the exctement of the PSAL season starting their are already some intriguing story lines.. South Shore Looks like they have a chance to repeat as PSAL Champions, Grand Street and Francis Lewis also look like they have a shot, at winning it all, and Murry Bergtraum looks like they have a shot to rebuild..

Yes, REBUILD, which is something unheard of for this historic girls program that has produced Champions, pros, wnba players, etc..... Bergtraum is in a situation where they have some of the best young talent in the country but that is exactly what they are, YOUNG!!!!! They have fight but not enough, they have heart but not enough, but that is whats so intriguing about watching them.. They have glimpses of a team with 2Potential All Americans, and 4 other High Division1 players, but they are going to need time to put it together.

With loses to Grand Street, Truman, and South Shore(by 50) the ship looks to be sinking in everyone elses eyes, except for the girls at Bergtraum.. They are a confident bunch of girls who believe with a few more games under their belt they will be primed and ready to make a huge splash this year and for years to come.. One anonymous evaluator/voter for Mc'donald All American Committe is quoted as saying, "When you potentially have one of the best defenders in the country, (Cinnamon Dockery'18) one of the best scorers and playmakers(Infinity Hammonds and Deja Francis"18's) who are all young, you have a chance to go really far and make a lot of noise.. If they can get their bigs to PLAY BIG AND USE THEIR ATHLETICISM, they are going to be scary good.."

BERGTRAUM BUMS READY!!!!
11/7/15 - 06:45 PM

THE SEASON HAS STARTED!!!!!!!! Well not with games but with practices.. Coach JP is smiling at every practice because he is "seeing some great things to come with this group." Bergtraum Lady Blazers are poised to make another run at the PSAL/FEDERATION Championship again!!! Losing last year to Grand Street Campus has left a sour taste and a feeling of incompleteness to these ladies... "We were very close and tastetd it but we didn't finish the job. This year we are determined to put another banner up in Bergtraum High School." said new team Captain Cinnamon Dockery(Sg'18)

Bergtraum brings back a strong core of girls who played significant roles in games last year. Deja Francis(Sg'18-Offer from Seton Hall), Dai'yanni Davis(Sf'17-Heavy Interest from #2 in the Country South Carolina) Cinnamon Dockery(Sg'18-heavy interest from GW) Jozai Vazquez(Sf'18) Julissa Rodriguez(Sf'17-NYC Honarable Mention last year) Kayla Foster(Pg'18) and Michale Macon(Sf'16) are poised and ready to step their game up another level.. New additions like Venequia Jones(Sg16) Kamiyiah Jefferyes(Sg'17) know what is expected of them and they are excited to be apart of and contribute to the team.

Two transfers coming in are looking to make immediate impacts!!! Sophmore Anaiyah Glover(Sf'18 ) and Infinity Hammonds(PG'18) are looking to make a huge name for themselves.. Glover, the daughter of St John Graduate/Pro Anthony Glover, brings toughness, IQ, and leadership to the table.. Infinity brings a "Must see TV game" according to Coach Luck.. "For someone that can average 30ppg if she wanted to, she is one of the most unselfish NYS guards i have seen in a long time. She reminds me of Kenny Anderson, and if you don't know who that is google him. The girls is a flatout Baller!!! Wit her Cinnamon and Deja, that could be the best 1,2,3 punch in the state, but time will tell..

Their are two Freshmen who look to gain some notice this year also..Malika Hill(sf'19 5'11) is a freak athlete who will avg abt 13 rebs a game or better for her career at Bergtraum because she is relentless on the boards and a very hard worker.. Zaniya Morris(PG'19) Has a serious handle and is fearless going to the basket and she can finish very well.. They both will be contributing to the team in more ways then one..

The schedule this year is challanging.. The Blazers play Powerhouses Riverdale Baptist, LUHI, and potentially another ranked powerhouse in New Years Resolution.. They will also play Penn Wood and Holy Child in She's Got Game Event in DC as well as Staten Island Academy who won the A Federation and Beat Bergtraum Last year in Rose Super Jam. They play the PSAL Champs South Shore, and Championship Contenders in Francis Lewis and Grand Street.. This should be an exciting and interesting year for the Lady Blazers Stay tuned!!!!!!!!

Surprsing Offer Came In!!!!!
10/2/15 - 11:07 PM

Deja Francis(Bergtraum '17 Sg) has just received an offer from Seton Hall... Now the reason why this is a surprise bcuz it is a top 25 school looking at a 2017 kid which a lot of Universities don't do.. Deja is an explosive guard with All American poential who said, and I quote, "I WANT TO GO TO UCONN!!! NOT GO TO BUT PLAY!!!" She has all the tools especially the grades to achieve whatever she wants to achieve.. With this first offer it is making her think about staying home and becoming a house hold name in her area.. Castle Athletics is excited about the off and will expecting many more to pour in sooner than later!!!

First Year is a Success!!!
9/6/15 - 11:42 AM

When your starting something new their are obstacles that can knock you down or build you up.. The Castle Lady Knights stepped over any obstacles they had to in order to be considered a powerful player in the AAU world... The schedule they played was tremendous,(Boo Williams, Run for the Roses, Battle of the Boro, PeachState, GNBA, BlueStar Nationals, just to name a few) the competition was tremendous,(EYBL Teams like Tennesse Flight, Gauchos, Essence, Philly Belles, Texas United, Cal Sparks, NJ Sparks, New England Crusaders, Kentucky Premiere as well as other well power programs like New Heights, Team Penny, SMAC, Michigan Storm, Long Island Lightning) and the results are interest from schools like Stanford, Princeton, Michigan, Michigan State, Seton Hall, VCU, UCF, LIU, Robert Morris, Rider, Siena, Pepperdine, NJIT, Radford, Middle Tennesse, and many others..

Success is measured in many ways by all people.. The success Castle had was being in the right place, at the right time, and playing in front of the top colleges in the country.. With a few additions and subtractions Castle looks to have a very bright future ahead of them.. Next year will tell if Castle is a true player or a flash in the pan program who snuck up on everyone.. The belief is that they are a true player, we shall see..

Castle will be attending two events this Fall.. One at South Shore and the other at Mott Haven HS in the Bronx. Two teams will be showcased and the schedules will be out soon.

GREAT SHOWING AT BOO!!!!
4/28/15 - 10:11 AM

"CASTLE LADY KNIGHTS"

Boo Williams is the place to go in then Northeast, during the Spring, to get College exposure, and play against some great competition. The Castle Lady Knights played this weekend at Boo Williams for the first time and had a great showing..

The Junior team lost a tough game at the buzzer which would have gotten them out of their pool.. Lauren McBride(Gil St Bernard Sf '16) Ashley Haywood(VES Sg '16) Lilly Warhaftig(Poly Prep Pg '16) and Ahyanna Green(Bishop Loughlin Sg/Sf '16) were an excellent punch at times with great shooting, driving, and low post play as well as Catherine Drago(Wagner Pf '16) and Meaurie Pickett(Patrick School) who hit open jumpers and grabbed a lot of offensive rebounds.. The spark plugs were Natalie White(Fieldston Sg'16) Sara Welztler(Riverdale Sf '16).. They gave Castle extra chance opportunities a lot of defensive stops and overall just great energy.. The under classwomen on the team Tori-May Dellapace(Loyola Sg '17) and Stephanie Sabido(Staten Island Academy '17) both played very well.. They knocked shots down, caused turnovers, and overall looked good for their first experience at Boo..

The Sophmore team went 3-1.. Dai'yanni Davis(Murry Bergtraum Sf '17) and Elizabeth Garcia(Holy Angels Sf '17) showed superior athleticism in front of coaches like Stanford, Michigan, Michigan State, Seton Hall, Louisville, Hofstra, NJIT, Iona, Hampton, Vermont and many others.. In the same breath the coaches also seen the shooting of Cristina Camerlengo(Wagner Sg'17 Hit 12 3's in 4games) Catie Goodell(Riverdale Sg'17) and IVY League MVP Maryrita Curcio(Hackley Sg'17) who had her inside outside game going.. Tremil Trotter(Rancacos Valley Sf '17) Nia Moon(Woodlands Pf '17) and Jerrayah Dawson(Bronx Prep C '17) were an excellent inside presence for the team and showed some promise.. Jonise Ledbetter(Rancacos Valley Pg'17) and Morenike Akinrefon(Sayerville Sg'17) showed great skill and abilty to be explosive at anytime on the defensive or offensive end.. Once Janean Cuffee(Lawrencville Sg'17) gets back this will be a serious team to be reckoned with.

The Freshmen team was outstanding as well.. It was their first time attending BOO Williams as a whole and they had a great showing.. Maggie White(Poly Prep Sf '18) Cinnamon Dockery(Murry Bergtraum Sg'18) and Deja Francis(Murry Bergtraum Sg'18) showed toughness and athleticism vs some tough competition.. Caleigh Ryan(Dalton Sf '18) and Ema Schumer(Dalton Pg'18) really showed leadership and outstanding play making ability.. Ronella Kennedy(Aquinas Pf '18) Nia Mennerville(Murry Bergtraum Pg'18) Dyamon Hunter(Thurgood Marshall Sg'18) and Sydney John(Cardinal Spellman Sf '18) gave the team great minutes off the bench.. The Freshmen also beat an Nike EYBL team which was the real highlight of the weekend for the Castle organization...

All and all it was a great weekend for Castle and they now have Rose Schedule left, USJN Memorial Day event, and Zero Gravity Under Armour Championships coming up soon.. Stay tune!!!

Maryrita Curcio(Hackley '17 6'1 SG) and Dai'yanni Davis(Murry Bergtraum '17 5'11 SF) led the way for the 10th grade team with great contributions from TreMil Trotter(Rancacos Valley '17 5'10 SF) The 9th grade team were led by Maggie White(Poly Prep '18 5'11 Sf) and Deja Francis(Murry Bergtraum '18 5'8 Sg)

BERGTRAUM ON THE RISE!!!!
1/27/15 - 11:18 AM

What a difference a year makes!!! After losing last year in the PSAL Championship game for the first time in 16 years, Bergtraum is back trying to make a statement, and start a new streak this year..

Led by new Head Coach Nerva-Jean Pierre, new assistants, with Ashanea McLaughlin(Seton Hall '19) and Alexandria Smith(Undecided '15, who has an offer from Middle Tennesse and numerous looks from Michigan State, Buffalo, Albany, Texas Tech, Quinippiac and more) they are trying to lead the charge back to the top of the PSAL!! Ardella Brown(Sf/Pg '16), Julissa Rodriguez(Sf '17), who were also on last years team, know whats expected of them, and are leading by example..

The bright spot and surprise are the freshman class who have been outstanding in some big spots. Cinnamon Dockery, Deja Francis, Kayla Foster, Jozai Vazquez, and Nia Mennerville have played meaningful minutes in big games vs Francis Lewis(PSAL Champs '15), LUHI(Federation Champs '15), South Shore(#5 in NYC), Bishop Mcnamara(#4 in the Country) Immacaulate Lodi(#10 in NJ) and many more.. They have made mistakes but they have also made plays that have produced wins and the playing time will prepare them for the big stage of the playoffs..

Dai'yanni Davis(Sf 17) and Michale Macon(pf '16) are the engines on and off the bench that keeps the team going.. With their energy, their talking, and play, they keep the spirits on the team loose and they are both getting better every game..

Some of these ladies will be playing for Castle Athletics this year so you will be seeing them in tournaments such as Boo Williams, Battle of the Boro, Run for the Roses, Gym Rats, USJN Events, PeachState Basketball, and others.. Look out for them and keep following Bergtraum for the rest of the season..

Congrats to Zhane Irby on her verbal to Canisius!!!
10/9/14 - 07:49 PM

Working hard, athleticism, and perservering is what could make a division 1 player.. Even players not on the radar can create value for themselves just by working hard, showing effort, and never quitting.. This is the definition of Zhane Irby, who has worked herself into a hell of a D1 prospect.

Zhane Committed to the University of Canisius and she could not be happier.. After spending a weekend at the school, and getting to know the staff, she felt like that was the place for her.. Zhane had Maine, Liberty, LaSalle, Seton Hall and a couple more schools she was interested in but she is very excited about her decision to choose Canisius.. Zhane is a high academic student who will probably major in finance and will potentially get time in her freshman year because of her work ethic. "YuNG &Tha Restless" is very proud of Zhane and wishes her luck on her senior year at The Patrick School..

Excellent showing at "Rose Open"
9/30/14 - 12:59 PM

Rose Classic has been known to have the number one Spring and Fall all girls tournaments in the East Coast. This Weekend they did their own Fall viewing period event and had coaches coming out from Seton Hall, Maryland, Minnesota, St Johns, Canisus, Siena, Lasalle, Hofstra, Stony Brook, Adelphi, Molloy, and many more that showed support. Congratulations to them and continued success with what could potentially be one of the biggest Fall Events for years to come.

"YuNG &Tha Restless" brought 2teams to this event and both had pretty good showings.. Interest has picked up for Zhane Irby(Patrick School 15 Sg/Sf) She picked up an offer from Canisus college and has received heavy interest from several programs like St Peters, LaSalle, and Central Conneticut..

The trio of Lauren McBride, Alexia Allesch, and Morgan Rooks(Gil St Bernard 16,17,15) have picked up interest from Columbia, Towson, Seton Hall, Siena, Hofstra... The Trio played really well and showed their capabilities to potentially play at the next level... Gil St Bernard will be a force to be reckoned with the next few years..

Kelly Oliver(Carmel 15 Sg) Ashley McKinnon(Newark Tech 15 Pg) and Amatullah Johnson(Weequaic 6'4 15 Center) all played like wariors this weekend as well.. Kelly accounted for 8 3point baskets this weekend and is looking to have an outstanding season at Carmel this year..Ashley is looking to lead Newark Tech on run at the Tournament of Champions this year and is going to do it with her athleticism and excellent defensive prowess.. Her eye for the ball on the defensive end is uncanny as she displayed this week..Mattie was a shot bloking machine and a rebound magnet.. She has excellent hands, great outlet passing ability, and finishes well in the paint.. All are unsigned seniors and will be particpating in more showcase events.

The Sophs/Juniors Jonise Ledbetter(Rancacous Valley 17 pg) Maryrita Curcio(Hackley 17 Sg) Meghan O'Hara( 17 Sg), Dai'Yanni Davis(Murry Bergtraum 17 Sf) Tamia Cutignola(St Marys 16), and Zhane Williams(Lincoln HS 16 Pg) and Meaurie Prickett(Trenton Catholic 16 Sf) All had good showings and are looking to have major impacts on their High School seasons this year so look out for them.

Be on the lookout for 2019 Claire Cody..This is a girl that played 17u Elite travel ball this year as a 7th grader.. Normally that is not even possible but she has gotten better, stronger, and smarter this past AAU season.. Big things are coming her way soon if she continues to be a gym rat and work on her game..

Zhane Irby Coming into her Own...
8/14/14 - 11:10 AM

Pointing you in the right direction, Zhane Irby

5'10, athletic, quick, and can shoot..These are all the attributes of a player that has worked on her game..The Roselle Catholic transfer and TPS rising senior is coming off a 22-5 high school campaign, a grueling Summer AAU schedule, now back in the gym training for the Fall/Winter season all while maintaing an Honor Roll GPA..

Zhane is locked in on the court.. She is an excellent defensive rebounder especially on the weak side.. She sees the passing lanes very well and can defend very well full court.. On offense she is an excellent slasher with a strong jabstep and a deadly jumpshot.. Her athleticism at the 2 gives her a great advantage shooting of the dribble..

Zhane is currently interested in Hofstra, Lafayette, Columbia, Maine, StonyBrook as well as others.. She is taking her visits during this Fall period..

LAUREN MCBRIDE STOCK ON THE RISE!!!!!
8/14/14 - 07:15 AM

She is going to kill the editor about this picture Lol!!

When she finishes her high school career, regardless of her numbers, Lauren is going to be known as one of the most aggressive and powerful players attacking the Basket.. Lauren is 5'11, smart, and a winner!!!!

Taking her talents to the powerhouse program of Gil St Bernard in NJ, Lauren has some big shoes to fill with the graduation of 3time Gatorade player of the year and Stanford Cardinal Taylor Rooks. Lauren played 15 & 17U this season for the YuNG &Tha Restless and showed tremendous poise, leadership, and athleticism for both teams.. She is developing a mid-range jumper which is going to be terror for defenders trying to guard her.. She is an 80% Free Throw shooter who can also knock down an occasional 3.. Her rebounding prowess on the offensive end is relentless and she is getting better in the post as well..

Her stock is up very high right now.. She is being looked at by Seton Hall, Gerorge Washington, Hofstra, Bucknell, Maine, Iona, Siena, Quinnipiac, as well as Columbia to name a few of the colleges..Watch out this year in NJ's High School basketball.. She is going to be one of the ones to talk about!!!

Great Weekend for "YuNG &Tha Restless"
7/15/14 - 09:06 AM

EXCELLENT JOB "Y&TR"

What a crazy weekend of viewing period basketball in Tennessee.. Our first stop was the "Apache Memorial" hosted by Insider Exposures own John Mcgraw and Kenny Kalina.. It was an excellent tournament which featured colleges such as the University of Miami, Florida State, Radford, Seton Hall, Columbia, Fordham, Alabama, among others in attendance.. The girls went 1-1, and played very well.. Tamia Cutignola caught fire in the second game to lead us in a win with 15 points..

"Battle of the Boro", hosted by the Insells, was a great experience especially for the ladies who have never attended. After getting shalacked by the Carolina Allstars Bond in the first game of the Sophmore Showcase Division, the sophmore team proceeded to make a push to the second round of the playoffs, in the Silver bracket, but wind up falling to eventual champs Arkansas Mavericks..(Congrats to them!!!)

In the Junior Bracket, there were some ups and downs but some good basketbal playedl against some excellent teams.. Shyasia Pridgen had an excellent showing for herself.. She put the team on her back on a couple of occasions and showed why her Patrick school team was 22-5 this year..

Some sophmore standouts for the weekend were Ahyana Green, Lauren Mcbride, Jonise Ledbetter, Maryrita Curcio, Lilly Warhaftig, and Nancy Colverson.. Others stepped up in key situations as the momentum they have will carry over to USJN DC..

The Junior Standouts were Kelly Oliver(Who had a great Shooting Weekend, 4 3's of the backboard, she called it..), Nijiera Addison(Who was a rebounding machine), Amatullah Johnson(6'4 played on a bad feet, but was a warrior all week!!!) and Zhane Irby(Did it all scored, rebounded, defended multiple positions, knocked down the 3 ball at a 45% clip) Great Job and cannot wait to see them at USJN DC..

On a side note Meghan Ohara is a STUD!!!!! She doesn't say much, but her potential is endless.. Also 7th grader, yes 7th Grader Claie Cody, contributed huge minutes in each and every game she played. Her upside is tremendous as well..

Some of the schools that have shown interest in our girls have been: Seton Hall, Grambling, Delaware, Hofstra, Siena, Radford, VCU, Fordham, Buffalo, St Peters, NJIT, Columbia, Dowling, Georgian Court, Wesleyan, and others..

THE DYNAMIC DUO FROM RANCACOS VALLEY!!!!!!
6/5/14 - 11:27 AM

Trotter/Ledbetter

When you say Totter & Ledbetter it sounds like a lawfirm but as corny as it sounds they take care of business on the court.. Jonise Ledbetter(PG) and TreMil Trotter(SF), both freshmen and from Rancaucos Valley(RV) in NJ, will be hitting the road with "YuNG &Tha Restless" this year on the premiere sophmore team.. Both are highly skilled and bring two different sets of skills to the table..

Jonise, on the right in the picture, is a quick, athletic, and underrated point guard who is super expolsive off the dribble, but is an incredible lock down defender.. She also placed very well at the East Coast Track relays which helps her with her speed and explosiveness.. Her G.P.A. is 3.0 which shows she is taking care of business on and off the floor..

TreMil Trotter, pictured on the left, is a deceptively quick forward(Hence the blurr!!), who is developing range, very athletic and POWERFUL on the lowblock.. She comes from a very athletic family where both mom/dad played sports as well as her little brothers.. She is also a 3.4 which also makes her very recruitable.

Both girls will be featured this Summer for "YuNG &Tha Restless" Premiere 15u team and you will see them at USJN and Battle of the Boro this AAU season...They are high level athletes as well as great students are highly recruitable.. Take a look out for them!!!!

A stand out NYC guard from historic Murry Bergtraum High School is taking her talents to Colorado in hopes to win one of 12 spots for the team.. When asked how she felt about it Mimi said " It's an honor and a privilage as a freshmen to even get this type of opportunity to play with/against this kind of talent, and to be able to compete for your country would be something I would have never imagine that I would be doing this early in my life." Mimi was selected to the All 2nd Manhattan team as a freshmen and is highly regarded as one of the top 2017 prospects in the country, as well as the best PG in NYS in the 2017 class..

This Has been an excellent year for the Metropolitan area when it comes to girls basketball..From Sierra Calhoun(Duke) Bianca Cuevas(South Carolina), Myaisa Hines-Allen (Louisville) and others, MPA basketball demise has been greatly exaggerated..We would like to congratulate the ladies of "Yung &Tha Restless" on there accomplishments this year and read some parent/player testimonials as well... Maria Backman(University of Michigan) Tyler Raysor(Rhode Island University ) Aaliyah Jones(Fordham University) Taylor Williams(Sacred Heart University) Dominique Ward(Rhode Island University ) Tamara Simpson(Yale University) Oluwasean Adeniji(Howard University)........................... "The confidence that Coach Luck instilled in my daughter Shelby when she played on his AAU team was invaluable. His constant positive approach of "next play" when she missed a shot or turned the ball over allowed her to play aggressive and not be afraid to make a mistake." Michael Zucker ............................................. "I spent two years with an amazing coach. Coach Luck has pushed me to reach heights I never imagined to touch, but he also taught me this is only the beginning." Tyler Raysor(Rhode Island 2014)................................... "Mannnnn look lol!!! Coach Luck, I can honestly say I don't think I'll ever run into another coach like you. I had a lot of fun & I'm definitely going to miss having you as a Coach." Dominique Ward....................................

More new Beginnings!!!!!!!!!!!!!
11/7/13 - 10:49 AM

NY, historically in the AAU Girls Basketball world, has had a reputation of not coming together for the common cause, let's just be honest!!.. Hopefully with the latest buzz going on in NYS maybe that will change.. "YuNG &Tha Restless" has linked up with the powerhouse "Exodus" program and they will be traveling together on the major circuits next year!!! "As an organization we are excited about this merger which will give girls an opportunity to play at a high level, with, and against high level talent.." said Curtiz Simpson founder of "YuNG &Tha Restless".. With the combination of girls between both organizations they will be able to field some strong teams on the circuit and potentially play in front of some of the top schools in the Nation!! Coaches, writers, and players are excited as well as parents.. This should be a fun/interesting year for NYS Girls AAU ball this 2014 season, and years to come..

Introducing Infinity Hammonds
10/10/13 - 05:28 PM

Infinity Hammonds 2017 Mount Vernon HS

Seeing her face at this point is not necessary. Her size is misleading because of how big her heart is. Her skill level and composure is unlike to many freshmen you would see in the country. Infinity Hammonds is hard nose, confident, and fearless out there on the basketball court. She started as an 8th grader for powerhouse Mt Vernon HS and played alongside West Virginia bound Lubirdia Gordon. She was second in scoring, first in steals, and she is looking forward to having a very special year with the Knights. Playing in her first viewing period event in the Fall with "Yung &Tha Restless" she matched up well against Brianna Jones, Munger(Both Philly Belles) and "Boogie" Brozoski.(LUHI) When asked how she felt she smiled and said "I didn't feel over matched, I just have to play my game, and let it speak for itself."

She is now garnering interest from Seton Hall, Michigan, VCU, Temple, Fordham, Hofstra, Sacred Heart, but she still feels like she has a lot more of her game to work on. Playing 16/17U at her age (14) is something she relishes a lot and her game will continue to flourish as she matures....

Khayla d Latimer is a 5'10 freshmen that has just enrolled into Immaculate Conception HS in NJ.. She is quick, tough, can handle the rock, and finish at the basket with contact.. HARD WORK PAYING OFF!!!
9/1/13 - 12:26 PM

She went from a virtual unknown athletic skate boarder(who is a good skater by the way), to becoming one of the top players in the country. Through all her hard work Maria Backman has now made one of her first life changing decision. She is going to be studying/playing at the University of Michigan. After taking the visit she said she was "Overwhelmed by the size, the great academics programs, and the alumni. I want to be apart of something great after basketball, and I felt this would change my life completely."

Maria is a hard worker with a relentless drive to be great. She is an excellent student athlete who will excel in the classroom at the highest level. From Coach Rock, Coach Luck, and the whole New Heights family, Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!

Great second half of the Viewing Period!!!
7/15/13 - 01:22 AM

Sydney Zambrotta Christ the King 2016

Expectations are what everyone talks about before the 2nd viewing period.. From the interest/offers that have been presented, the girls have more than exceeded even their own expectations.. Known now to the AAU world as the "Comeback Kids" these ladies have shown that never giving up produces tangible results..

The game of the Summer so far took place at "Run 4the Roses".. Down 15with 3:21 left in the game, against SMAC Elite, the girls made a furious comeback to get a well deserved overtime win in front of more than 70 coaches, and screaming spectators as they watched in awe.. Their were other games that slipped away against good teams like Team Edge, Indian Elite, and Texas Prep but they stepped up with wins against Tennesse Flight-Alabama, FGB, and Oklahoma Magic.. All in all the girls did a wonderful job in the 2nd session of the viewing period and they have garnered several offers from BIG EAST, BIG12, SEC, both ACC'S, and some Mid Major schools..Next stop: Junior Nationals DC, ATL SummerSlam, PeachState Elite32, and BlueStar Nationals (Which is invite only!!!)

"YuNG &Tha Restless" have great showing at Boo...
4/21/13 - 06:24 PM

Getting off to a great start is always good when it ends with a great finish.. NH Blue jumped all over the PA Comets in the first game and won by 35...The defense was intense which cause over 25TO's and led to a ton of fast break baskets.. In the 2nd game against Maryland Pride, a slow start, led to a 28-21 halftime lead..Tyler Raysor(Playing with hurt shoulder) took over.. She converted 2buckets,and grabbed every rebound ,it looked like it, for the rest of the game.. Maria Backman couldn't miss knocking down 3's and using an array of moves to exploit miss matches.. Mass Huskies were difficult with bigs who can shoot and run the floor.. On top of some terrible rebounding early, scoring seemed to take over..Thats when NYC/NYS Player of the year Aaliyah Jones took over.. An and1, 3pter, and two layups later finally put that game away.. On to the Playoffs where a new rivalry is about to hit the AAU Circuit..Team TakeOver, who beat YuNG at the Sparks Tournament, got another one by us again..Down 11-0, YuNG makes a run, cuts it to 16-8, then cut it to 22-28 when disater struck..Coming down on her jumpshot, Aaliyah Jones turned her ankle, and was unable to return..The Ladies played with a lot of heart and grit..It was a whos who of Universities watching the games..(Maryland,Notre Dame,St Johns,,Hofstra,UNC,ECU,Michigan,West Virginia,Florida,NC State,Butler,Bucknell,Iowa State, and many) Player of the weekend was a tie going with Aaliyah Jones & Maria Backman... Most Improved Player was Sydney Zambrotta.Although young, she has got to be 1of the deadliest shooters in the country, PERIOD!!!! Warrior Award goes to Tyler Raysor who pounded in the paint, despite an injured shoulder, and some questionable officiating... Next stop Hoop Group May 18-19...

What a Difference a Year Makes!!!
3/25/13 - 02:40 PM

Controversy, suspension, distractions, would have been a good enough excuse not to sweep all the championship trophies.. No excuses for Bishop Ford or Aaliyah Jones.. Ford capped off a tumultuous year by beating MSG Varsity #1 Ossining and their star player Saniya Chong to capture the NYS Federation Title for the first time in Ford history.. To add to the greatness, Aaliyah Jones was named MVP, NYC player of the year, and Bishop Ford finished #6 in the country... When asked how she felt i believe the quote was "We are #1 in everything, we were underestimated always, but now were #1 in everything, NYC NYS, everything!!!" Jones has garnered interest from Louisville, St Johns, Michigan, Georgetown,Seton Hall, East Carolina, Providence, Butler, Bucknell......Congrats and Continued success...

This article is a testament to hard work, dedication, and getting better.. Good job Tyler!!!!

Raysor's work ethic shines through for Mikes with 21 points, 19 rebounds

By Barry Federovitch/The Times
on March 12, 2013 at 11:29 PM, updated March 12, 2013 at 11:37 Pm

raysor.JPGTCA's Tyler Raysor, right, battles for position with Point Beach's Chloe Johnson, during a NJSIAA girls' basketball TOC quarterfinal game. Raysor finished with 21 points and a game-high 19 rebounds in the Iron Mikes' loss.

TOMS RIVER — There were plenty of tears and bowed heads as the Trenton Catholic Academy girls’ basketball team left the Pine Belt Arena tonight after dropping a sloppy 74-68 decision to Point Pleasant Beach in the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions quarterfinals.

The Mikes committed a ghastly total of 28 personal fouls and 22 turnovers and saw their season end with a 23-7 record.

But amid the disappointment was an often spectacular performance by junior center Tyler Raysor.

Raysor scored a team-high 21 points and pulled down 19 rebounds, keeping the Mikes in a game in which they were consistently plagued by foul trouble.

About the only thing Raysor didn’t do well was shoot free throws as she and the Mikes combined to go only 11-for-26 from the charity stripe.

But the unselfish player with the big heart wasn’t feeling bad for herself after the game, rather dwelling on what the loss meant for her teammates.

“I feel worst for our seniors,” said Raysor. “There’s no more AAU, no more anything. I can’t even speak right now. Everything is just a blur."

“It hurts,” Raysor said. “But all we can do is come back stronger next year. You have to do the same things, but better.

“I have to get in better shape and work on my outside game, work on my three-pointer, be inside and outside. I know after this I’m going to work hard.”

Raysor always has been a paragon of hard work for the Mikes in the low post, who has the misfortune because of her size to often not get the calls from officials when there is contact.

She is so strong that if she battles an opponent for a 50-50 ball, she will win it almost everytime with the opposing player crumbling badly after losing the fight. This leads to an occasional undeserved foul.

But on the flipside, Raysor is improving near the basket with each hand. As she continues to increase her repertoire of shots, she is becoming more of an offensive force, which is bad news to the opposition since she is already a great defender and rebounder.

“Tyler put a couple of baskets in there,” said TCA head coach Khaliq Lewis-El. “But unfortunately we couldn’t finish enough (overall).”

Next season may be different in that regard if Raysor has anything so say about it.

“All I was seeing in the lockerroom with everybody upset was a lot of fire,” she said. “I see fire for next year. Tomorrow I won’t be sad. Tomorrow I’ll be back in the gym.”

Laying the groundwork for what could be another trip to the Tournament of Champions for TCA.

Ford still defying all odds!!!

Now with all the adversity Bishop Ford has gone through in the past month, they have pulled together to win the Brooklyn Queens CHSAA Championship beating #1seed Molloy 51-45..It was a great game with the lead switching 6times in 2minutes.. "YuNG &Tha Restless" standout Aaliyah Jones(2014) took over the game with 2:53 left scoring 8points with two huge free-throws and a rebound to secure the game.."My teammates kept me focus and had the confidence in me to make the plays i made at the end.I picked up my 4th foul and Lewis(St Johns 2014) took over the load and kept our team in it..We wanted to win this for Ford and I am very proud of our team for showing a lot of heart..Now on to the States!!!" Aaliyah has drawn interest from some of the top universities in the country and has not thought about a decision yet. Female Athlete of the Week...A Star shines bright on/off the court!!!!
3/3/13 - 01:00 PM

Good thing her mother has plenty of experience in cheering because Tyler Raysor has given her mom lots of good things to shout about. “She’s been the No. 1 supporter for me,” said Raysor who is a standout student-athlete at Trenton Catholic Academy. “She definitely was athletic, she did all the sports, including a little bit of basketball – and she was a cheerleading coach at Seton Hall for 24 years.” With her mother Diane cheering her on, Raysor plays a lot of basketball. “Basketball is year-round,” said Raysor, who has been named as The Times’ Female Athlete of the Week. She is one of the top players for the Iron Mikes (20-6) who recently captured their fourth consecutive Mercer County Tournament title and are still in the quest for a state championship this season. Raysor had 10 points in the 52-37 victory over St. Joseph’s of Hammonton Friday evening. The win advanced TCA to the Non-Public South Jersey B semifinals tomorrow against top-seeded Roselle Catholic. A victory would put the Mikes in Wednesday’s SJ title game at Jackson Liberty High. She also tied for game-high scoring honors with 18 points versus Wardlaw-Hartridge in a 67-41 opening-round win last Wednesday. The days are long but satisfying for the resident of Lawnside in Camden County. “It’s all about time management, because I live so far away,” said Raysor, an Honors student whose GPA hovers near 4.0. “I live in south Jersey but my school is in central Jersey. Traveling part of the way by car and the rest by bus, it takes her about an hour to get from her home to the TCA campus in Hamilton. “You can definitely read and do homework,” she says. She did her research before deciding to become an Iron Mike. “It came down to me hearing about them so much,” Raysor said referring to the school’s basketball prowess. “It was Trenton Catholic this and Trenton Catholic that. You just always heard about them. And, I heard about them in south Jersey and that meant they must have been a big thing (statewide). “They were always winning and I wanted to be on a winning team. Being here, with this coaching staff, was going to be a better situation for me.” She immersed herself in school academically and athletically. “School is great,” said Raysor, a recent Student of the Month honoree. She also plays AAU basketball. “Basketball never stops,” she said. “I definitely need something to do. I can’t just stay home. It doesn’t feel right.” The 6-foot-2-inch junior forward has already piqued the interest of coaches from several universities. “I’m going to look all over for my college,” Raysor said. “I’m not going to limit where I want to go. My (family and friends) will follow me.” Led by her mom, they’ll support her, cheering all the way. Contact Mary Ann Tarr at matarr@njtimes.com

Jersey Playoffs and T.O. C. Information...
2/28/13 - 07:03 PM

Trenton Catholic won their first round playoff games last night.. Tyler Raysor finished with a team high 18pts 10rbs.. As reported by NJ Times Ray Clark: TCA jumped out to a 10-2 lead to start the game after a put-back by the Mikes’ Tyler Raysor. Forward Erin Garner took over from there, scoring eight points, while Isis Young chipped in with seven, as the Mikes took a 23-6 lead after the first quarter. The winners extended their lead to 29-6 after another Raysor rebound and score with 4:59 left before the half. “We never underestimate anybody, so we wanted to come out hard and play TCA basketball,” said TCA’s Raysor, who finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds in the win. “I came out and had my head in it, because this is the playoffs, and it’s one and done. And yesterday could have been our last practice, so we just take one game at a time, and we’ve got to play hard from the start and let them know that this is our house and nobody’s going to come in here and beat us.” NJ Times Ray Clark nj.com
